Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Highlights Importance of ‘One Nation, One Election’ for India’s Progress
Arunachal: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has strongly advocated for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘One Nation, One Election,’ stressing that such a system is crucial for India’s continued growth and development.
Rijiju, speaking on the subject, reiterated the Prime Minister’s statement, emphasizing that regular elections should be followed by uninterrupted governance, allowing for efficient work in a five-year cycle. “PM Modi stated that to move the country forward, elections should be held every five years, followed by five years of uninterrupted work,” Rijiju said.
The Minister revealed that a report on the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative, prepared under the guidance of former President Ram Nath Kovind, will soon be presented in Parliament. Rijiju further elaborated on the need for a unified electoral process, highlighting the importance of uniformity across the nation. “We need this system because we are one nation, and a single electoral process should apply uniformly across the country,” he emphasized.
As the Parliament session scheduled for November 25 approaches, discussions around ‘One Nation, One Election’ are expected to take center stage, with multiple bills being introduced during the session. This marks a significant step toward implementing reforms that could streamline India’s electoral process and governance structure.
