Kolkata: Bharat Dev Varma, a prominent member of the Tripura royal family and husband of renowned actress Moon Moon Sen, passed away early this morning at his Kolkata residence. He was 83.
According to sources, Varma’s deteriorating health condition led to his demise.
He is survived by his wife and daughters, actresses Raima and Riya Sen.
Varma’s lineage traces back to the royal family of Tripura. His mother, Ila Devi, was a princess of Cooch Behar and the sister of the Maharani of Jaipur, Gayatri Devi. His grandmother, Indira, was the sole daughter of Maharaja Searji Rao Gaikwad III of Vadodara.
