Arunachal: Itanagar Police Nab Habitual Thief, Recover Stolen Goods Worth Rs 9 Lakh

ITANAGAR: In a swift and efficient operation, the Itanagar Capital Police have apprehended a notorious thief and recovered stolen property worth over Rs 9 lakh.

The arrest comes on the heels of a burglary that took place on the morning of November 17, 2024, at the residence of Shri Arif Rasul, PPS to the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh.

The audacious thief, taking advantage of the complainant’s absence, broke into the P Sector residence and made off with a trove of valuables, including a GoPro camera, Samsung tablet, gold ornaments, a diamond bracelet, Rs 25,000 in cash, and two mobile phones.

A prompt response from the Itanagar Police, led by SDPO Shri Kengo Dirchi, saw a dedicated team of officers swiftly mobilizing to track down the culprit. Through meticulous investigation and intelligence gathering, the team zeroed in on 22-year-old Tadar Niba, a resident of Raj Bhawan peripheral.

After intense interrogation, Niba confessed to the crime and revealed the whereabouts of the stolen goods. The police recovered a brand-new GoPro camera, a Samsung tablet, and several other stolen items from various locations within the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).

The accused is currently in police custody and is being interrogated further. The successful operation is a testament to the unwavering commitment and professionalism of the Itanagar Capital Police in ensuring the safety and security of the city’s residents.
