Meghalaya Gears Up for T20 Cricket Challenge in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Shillong: Meghalaya’s senior men’s cricket team is all set to transition from the longer format to the explosive world of T20 cricket.

The team will kick off their campaign in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 against Hyderabad on November 23rd.

As the Ranji Trophy season takes a brief pause, the state’s cricketers will now focus on the limited-overs format. The squad, which will be playing their matches in Rajkot, Gujarat, is largely based on the Ranji team but with a few significant changes. Notably, Kishan Lyngdoh has been omitted from the 15-member squad. Additionally, the team will not be utilizing any of the three guest professionals who were part of the Ranji squad.

The selection committee will closely monitor the team’s performance in the first three matches. Based on these performances, the squad may undergo changes. Meghalaya will face Hyderabad on November 23rd, Madhya Pradesh on November 25th, and Bihar on November 27th.

The team’s support staff, led by Head Coach Prabhakar Bairgond, will be instrumental in guiding the players through this crucial phase. As Meghalaya takes on this new challenge, cricket enthusiasts across the state are eagerly awaiting their performance on the national stage.
