Shillong – Former Bollywood actress and MTV model Udita Goswami is set to return to her roots in a spectacular way, debuting as a DJ at the Me•gong Festival 2024 in Meghalaya.
The event, which celebrates music and cultural heritage, will be held in Tura on November 29 and features an impressive lineup of local and global talent, including the legendary Swedish rock band Europe.
For Goswami, the performance marks a homecoming to her maternal homeland, as her mother hails from Shillong. Best known for her Bollywood roles in Paap (2003), Zeher, and Aksar, Goswami has transitioned from acting to exploring her passion for music. Ranked among India’s Top 100 Beautiful Women, her DJ act adds a personal and exciting touch to this year’s festival.
The Me•gong Festival, backed by Meghalaya Tourism, has become a cultural highlight, showcasing a blend of international and regional artistry. This year’s headliner, Europe, returns to India for the first time since their iconic 1988 performance in Mumbai. Joining them are Indian rock pioneers Indus Creed and Euphoria, along with Meghalaya-based acts Da Suraka, Haystack Ladies, and Summersalt, who will bring their signature folk fusion sounds to the stage.
Organised by VAS Inc. and Ivory Valley, the festival builds on its success from last year, which featured the Vengaboys and Armaan Malik. Speaking about the event, organisers expressed excitement at the growing recognition of Meghalaya as a hub for cultural tourism.
Goswami’s DJ debut adds a fresh dynamic to the festival, promising a unique set that celebrates her artistic journey and her deep connection to the region. Local audiences eagerly anticipate her performance, alongside the diverse lineup that cements Me•gong as one of India’s most anticipated music festivals.
