Kanye West Accused of Assault by Former ‘America’s Next Top Model’ Contestant
A lawsuit filed in a New York federal court alleges that Kanye West assaulted former “America’s Next Top Model” contestant Jenn An during the filming of a music video in 2010.
According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred at the Chelsea Hotel in New York City during the production of La Roux’s “In for the Kill” remix video. An, who was working as a background actress, claims that West instructed other performers to leave the room before the assault. The suit alleges that West choked An with one hand and then used both hands to strangle her, leaving her struggling to breathe and temporarily unconscious.
The lawsuit also names Universal Music Group (UMG) as a defendant, accusing the company of failing to investigate the incident and prioritizing profits over addressing allegations of misconduct. An’s legal team argues that UMG’s actions reflect systemic discrimination against women within the music industry.
The lawsuit seeks damages for physical, emotional, and reputational harm and invokes New York’s Gender-Motivated Violence Act.
