Assam: Cachar District Honours Lachit Divas, Commemorating the Braveheart

The District Commissioner’s Office, Cachar, today paid tribute to the indomitable spirit of Bir Lachit Barphukan on the occasion of Lachit Divas. The event was held to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary Ahom general who valiantly defended Assam from Mughal invasions.

The ceremony commenced with a floral tribute to the statue of Lachit Barphukan, a gesture of profound respect and admiration. District Commissioner Mridul Yadav, who presided over the event, delivered a heartfelt speech highlighting the significance of the Ahom general’s legacy.

“Lachit Barphukan’s unwavering courage and strategic brilliance continue to inspire generations. His victory at the Battle of Saraighat stands as a testament to his exceptional leadership and unwavering patriotism,” said DC Yadav.
