Kiren Rijiju Urges Unity Ahead of Constitution Day Celebrations

Assam: On the eve of Constitution Day, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju called for nationwide solidarity in honoring the Indian Constitution and its framers, emphasizing that the occasion is above political differences.

“This celebration is not just for Parliament but for the entire nation. It’s a moment to pay tribute to the makers of our Constitution and bring its values closer to the people,” Rijiju said. He urged all Indians to join in the commemoration, stressing that the President’s address to members of both Houses on November 26 should be free from political discord.

The minister revealed plans to personally invite the President to the evening event, underscoring the importance of the occasion. Responding to concerns raised by opposition parties, Rijiju criticized what he described as premature reactions and clarified the program’s structure. “The Prime Minister will not even speak at tomorrow’s function. Only the Lok Sabha Speaker, Vice President, and President will address the gathering,” he said.

Special seating arrangements have been made for opposition leaders from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, allowing them to share the dais during the event. Rijiju dismissed the opposition’s criticisms as unwarranted, stating that such a solemn occasion should not be marred by discord.

The Constitution Day program aims to bring leaders across the political spectrum together to reflect on the founding principles of the nation and honor the legacy of the Constitution’s architects.
