Assam: Silchar DI&CC Launches Scheme to Mechanize and Irrigate Tea Gardens

Silchar, Assam: The District Industries & Commerce Centre (DI&CC) of Silchar has unveiled a new scheme aimed at revolutionizing tea cultivation in the region. This initiative, focused on mechanization and irrigation, seeks to empower Small Tea Growers (STGs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and co-operative societies.

The scheme offers financial assistance for the purchase of essential agricultural equipment, including spray machines and pruning machines. STGs can avail up to Rs 5,000 for spray machines, while SHGs and co-operative societies are eligible for Rs 20,000 for pruning machines.

To address the crucial issue of irrigation, the DI&CC is providing substantial support for borewell installations and water pump setups. Eligible beneficiaries can receive up to Rs 40,000 for borewell installations and Rs 20,000 for water pumps.

The DI&CC aims to empower small tea growers and improve their overall productivity and income. By providing access to modern agricultural technology and reliable irrigation facilities, the scheme seeks to enhance the quality and quantity of tea production in the region.

Interested individuals and groups are encouraged to submit their applications on plain paper to the DI&CC office in Silchar by December 5, 2024. For more information, applicants can visit the DI&CC office during working hours.
