Guwahati-North Guwahati Bridge on Track, Set for July 2025 Opening
Guwahati: In a significant development for the city of Guwahati, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced today that the construction of the highly anticipated Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge is progressing smoothly and is expected to be completed by July 2025.
During a recent inspection of the South Bank construction site, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the project’s progress. “We are confident that the bridge will be operational by July 2025,” he stated.
Once inaugurated, the bridge will provide a much-needed link between the two banks of the Brahmaputra River, easing traffic congestion and facilitating smoother movement of people and goods. To encourage public usage, the government has decided to waive toll fees for all vehicles except trucks and commercial buses.
This decision is expected to significantly benefit daily commuters, making the bridge a more affordable and accessible mode of transportation.
The Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge is a key component of the state government’s ambitious infrastructure development plans. By investing in such projects, the government aims to boost regional economic growth and enhance the overall quality of life for the people of Assam.
