Meghalaya Cabinet Approves New Rules, Including Health Services and Journalists’ Welfare Scheme

Shillong: The Meghalaya Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, has approved a range of new rules aimed at addressing key issues across various sectors.

One of the significant approvals is the Meghalaya Health Services (Academic) Rules, 2024, which aims to standardize recruitment procedures for academic positions in medical institutions.

The new rules are designed to support the smooth operationalization of medical colleges, including the Shillong Medical College, whose operations are still pending. Additionally, the Cabinet has approved the Meghalaya Dental Health Service Rules, which aims to expedite pending activities like promotions, recruitment, and service conditions of dental professionals employed by the state government.

In another significant development, the Meghalaya Journalists Welfare Scheme, 2024, has also been approved. This scheme is expected to benefit journalists in the state. Furthermore, Chief Minister Sangma held a meeting with officials to discuss the proposed Blockchain-Based Meghalaya Human Resource Information Network (MHRIN) under the Meghalaya Model for Administration Reforms.
