Hornbill Festival 2024: A Cultural Extravaganza Draws Record Crowds
Dimapur, Nagaland: The 25th edition of the prestigious Hornbill Festival, a vibrant celebration of Nagaland’s diverse cultures, has kicked off with a resounding success. In just the first two days, the festival has already welcomed an impressive 41,498 visitors, surpassing expectations.
On December 1st, the inaugural day, a staggering 23,910 individuals, including 513 international tourists, 5,486 domestic tourists, and a significant number of local attendees, flocked to the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama. The second day witnessed an equally enthusiastic response, with 17,588 visitors gracing the festival.
The Hornbill Festival, often hailed as the “Festival of Festivals,” is a testament to Nagaland’s rich cultural tapestry. The ten-day extravaganza showcases the unique traditions, art, music, and cuisine of the state’s 17 tribes.
As the festival progresses, organizers anticipate even larger crowds, with a diverse range of performances, exhibitions, and competitions captivating audiences from around the world. The Directorate of Tourism, Nagaland, has expressed its gratitude to both visitors and participating communities, highlighting the festival’s crucial role in promoting the state’s cultural heritage and tourism potential.
