Manipur Police Nets Four KCP(PWG) Militants, Inter-District Bus Services Resume
Imphal: In a significant development, the Manipur Police has made a breakthrough in its operations against insurgent groups.
Four members of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (Peoples’ War Group) were apprehended on Monday from the Lamkhai area of Kakching district.
The arrests were made in connection with alleged extortion activities and illegal possession of firearms. The security forces seized a 7.26×25 mm M20 pistol with a magazine, ammunition, five mobile phones, a demand letter issued by KCP(PWG), and 80 blank tax receipts belonging to the outfit.
In a separate development, the Manipur government has taken a bold step to restore normalcy in the state by resuming inter-district public bus services between Imphal and the hill districts. This decision comes after a relative lull in the ethnic violence that has plagued the region for nearly two years.
The resumption of bus services, which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, is being implemented under strict security measures. This is the second attempt by the administration to restore public transport in the state since the outbreak of violence in 2023.
