BSF Thwarts Sugar Smuggling Attempt in Meghalaya
Shillong, Meghalaya: The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya has dealt another blow to smuggling activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
In a recent operation, the 193 Battalion of the BSF apprehended four Indian nationals and seized two heavy vehicles laden with sugar worth over Rs 10 lakh.
The incident occurred near the international border in East Khasi Hills district. Acting on specific intelligence, the BSF personnel intercepted the vehicles bearing registration numbers ML 12 3843 and ML 05 AD 3614.
The seized goods and the apprehended individuals were subsequently handed over to the Customs Office at Dangar for further investigation and legal action.
This is the second such incident in recent weeks. On November 20, the BSF had successfully foiled another smuggling attempt involving contraband items in the same district.
The BSF’s proactive efforts in combating smuggling activities have significantly contributed to enhancing security along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
