Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Accuses BJP of Favoring Adani Group
Assam: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of fostering a close relationship with the Adani Group, alleging that government policies, such as airport privatization, have been disproportionately benefiting the conglomerate.
Speaking at a press briefing, Gogoi cited evidence from opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which was presented during Parliament’s Question Hour to support these claims. He also criticized BJP MPs for making “disgusting remarks” when concerns were raised about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi being prevented from visiting Sambhal.
“Whenever Rahul Gandhi speaks against Adani, sleeper cells of Adani in the Parliament get activated. This was evident again today,” Gogoi remarked.
The Congress MP demanded an apology from the BJP MP accused of making offensive comments and called for strict action to be taken. He reiterated that the opposition remains united in its demand for accountability on the Adani issue, continuing to press for transparency regarding the alleged favoritism shown to the business group.
This comes amid growing tensions in Parliament, with opposition parties alleging corporate cronyism while the ruling BJP dismisses these claims as unfounded. The Adani controversy remains a focal point for the opposition, signaling heightened scrutiny of the government’s economic policies.
The BJP has not yet officially responded to the allegations and demands made by Gogoi.
