Sikkim Embarks on a Thrilling Mountain Bike Adventure
Gangtok: Sikkim, the Himalayan paradise, is all set to witness an exhilarating mountain biking expedition, “Tour De Sikkim.”
Flagged off today by Tourism Minister Tshering Thendup Bhutia, the three-day event will see 40 cyclists from across India embark on a challenging yet rewarding journey.
Organized in collaboration with the Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco-Tourism (ICHAE) and the Cycling Association of Sikkim, the expedition will traverse the iconic Silk Route. The riders will be treated to breathtaking vistas, challenging terrains, and overnight camping experiences at Gnathang Valley and Rorathang.
Minister Bhutia, while wishing the participants a safe and enjoyable journey, emphasized the health benefits of cycling and encouraged everyone to explore Sikkim’s stunning landscapes. The event is expected to cover a distance of approximately 212 km, showcasing the state’s potential for adventure tourism.
By promoting eco-friendly exploration, “Tour De Sikkim” aims to highlight Sikkim’s rich cultural and natural heritage. The Tourism Department and ICHAE have joined hands to organize this remarkable event, providing an opportunity for cyclists to experience the beauty and adventure of the Himalayan state.
