NIA Busts Trans-Border Arms Syndicate in Mizoram, Arrests 3
Aizawl: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has dealt a significant blow to a trans-border arms and ammunition trafficking syndicate operating in Mizoram.
In a coordinated operation, the agency arrested three individuals—Lalrinchhunga, Vanlaldailova, and Lalmuanpuia—following extensive searches at multiple locations across the state.
The arrested trio is alleged to be part of a larger network involved in the illicit trade of explosives, weapons, and ammunition. The NIA’s investigation, initiated in December 2023, has revealed their active role in this criminal enterprise.
During the searches, conducted in the districts of Mamit, Serchhip, and Aizawl, the NIA seized a cache of weapons, ammunition, explosives, manufacturing equipment, digital devices, and other incriminating materials. The operation also targeted a gunhouse, underscoring the scale of the syndicate’s operations.
The NIA’s relentless pursuit of this case has led to previous chargesheets against Lalngaihawma and Solomona alias Hminga alias Lalmithanga in July and November 2024, respectively.
As the investigation progresses, the NIA aims to dismantle the entire syndicate, identify its key players, and disrupt the flow of illegal weapons into the region. The agency remains committed to ensuring national security and maintaining law and order in the northeastern states.
