BTC Launches Doctorate Fellowship for Underprivileged Students

The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has taken a significant step towards promoting higher education in the region by introducing the Doctorate Fellowship Award Scheme. This initiative is specifically designed to support students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Education Director JP Brahma unveiled the scheme during a press conference at the Bodoland Guest House. As part of the Giyan Swrang Bithangkhi Scheme, the fellowship aims to provide financial assistance to 50 students annually, offering a scholarship of Rs 1.8 lakh per recipient to pursue doctoral studies.

The first phase of the program has already commenced with a screening process at the Bodoland Guest House. To date, 111 applications have been received. This marks a pioneering effort by the BTC Government to empower underprivileged students and encourage them to pursue advanced academic qualifications.
