The Directorate of School Education & Literacy in Meghalaya has ordered the closure of all schools within Shillong’s municipal limits on December 10, 2023. This decision comes in anticipation of a large-scale event organized by the state’s Tourism Department, which is expected to draw a considerable crowd.
The closure is intended to mitigate traffic congestion and adhere to existing traffic restrictions in the city. The Director of School Education & Literacy, Swapnil Tembe, has instructed all school heads to ensure compliance with the order.
