Manipur Police Seize 5.87 kg of Brown Sugar in Senapati
Imphal: The Manipur Police have made a significant drug bust in Senapati district, seizing 5.87 kg of brown sugar concealed within 150 soap cases. Four individuals were apprehended in connection with the seizure.
Acting on credible intelligence, police conducted a raid on a residence in Chiphaodai village on December 12. During the search, the contraband was discovered ingeniously hidden within the soap cases.
The four suspects were subsequently arrested, and a formal case has been registered to delve deeper into the matter.
In a separate operation, a joint team of Manipur Police successfully destroyed 50 acres of poppy cultivation in the Khamasom Hill Ranges on December 13.
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh lauded the efforts of the security personnel on his official X handle, highlighting that the recent eradication brings the total area cleared of poppy cultivation to a substantial 160 acres in a short span.
Furthermore, the security forces also dismantled nine huts situated within the poppy fields, further disrupting the illicit cultivation activities.
