International Paragliding Accuracy Championship and Air Sports Festival 2024 Concludes in Mizoram

Serchhip, Mizoram – The International Paragliding Accuracy Championship and Air Sports Festival 2024, one of India’s premier paragliding events, concluded in grand style at Serchhip Zawlpui, Mizoram. The event brought together 30 athletes from six countries — India, Korea, Kazakhstan, Spain, Indonesia, and Nepal — showcasing their skills in an exhilarating competition.

Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma presided over the event as the chief guest, with Tourism Minister Pi Lalrinpuii attending as the guest of honour. The championship celebrated not only the spirit of adventure but also Mizoram’s growing reputation as a hub for air sports and tourism.

Men’s Category:

  1. Aman Thapa (Nepal)
  2. Yuda Mesa Putra (Indonesia)
  3. Akshay Kumar (India)

Women’s Category:

  1. Eun Young Cho (Korea)
  2. Disha Fajar Praharini (Indonesia)
  3. Alisha Alisha (India)

Team Category:

  1. Indo David Team (Indonesia and Spain)

National Category (Men’s):

  1. Akshay Kumar
  2. Ram Vilas Verma
  3. Shinde Ram

National Category (Women’s):

  1. Alisha Alisha
  2. Sophia Biakdingpuii

Each winner was awarded Rs 2,00,000, with Rs 1,50,000 for second place and Rs 1,00,000 for third.

Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma commended the athletes for their exceptional performance and perseverance. Highlighting Mizoram’s potential as an adventure tourism destination, he said, “Serchhip town is one of the best locations in India for paragliding and adventure sports. With continued efforts, Mizoram can become a major destination for thrill-seekers worldwide.”

The chief minister also acknowledged the contributions of local Mizo pilots, the Mizoram Government, MASA (Mizoram Aero Sports Association), FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale), and the people of Serchhip in making the event a success.

Tourism Minister Pi Lalrinpuii expressed her gratitude to the organizing committee, the Tourism Department, and the citizens of Serchhip. “This championship has put Mizoram on the map for international air sports and adventure tourism,” she remarked.

The championship, filled with thrilling displays of skill and precision, concluded with a sense of pride and achievement for both the participants and the hosts. Mizoram now looks forward to leveraging this success to attract more adventure enthusiasts to the region.
