Assam: 800 kg of Cannabis Seized from Train at Bongaigaon Station
Assam: The Government Railway Police (GRP) of Bongaigaon made a significant drug bust late last night, seizing approximately 800 kg of cannabis from the Siyaldah Kanchanjunga Express.
The large haul of the illegal substance was discovered during a routine inspection of the train upon its arrival at the station.
Intelligence reports had indicated the possible transportation of a substantial amount of narcotics through the railway network. Acting on this information, the GRP conducted a discreet operation, leading to the successful interception of the cannabis.
While the intended destination of the cannabis remains unclear, initial investigations suggest it was possibly being transported to the railway station’s Vice President’s office. However, no arrests have been made at this time. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the individuals involved in this illicit operation.
The GRP is committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks operating in the region and ensuring the safety of railway passengers and the integrity of railway operations. Further details regarding the case, including the origin and intended destination of the seized cannabis, are awaited as investigations continue.
