Meghalaya U-23s Ready for One-Day Challenge with Kevin Sanjeev Christopher at the Helm
Shillong: Meghalaya will enter the BCCI U-23 Men’s State A Trophy 2024-25 with renewed optimism, led by their star batsman Kevin Sanjeev Christopher.
The talented captain, who shone brightly in the recent Col CK Nayudu Trophy with 298 runs, including a crucial century against Railways, will look to translate his red-ball form into the one-day arena.
Meghalaya’s journey begins tomorrow with a challenging encounter against Maharashtra in Nagpur. The team will then face Railways on December 17 and Baroda on December 19. These initial three matches will serve as a crucial assessment period for the squad.
While the Col CK Nayudu Trophy saw Meghalaya facing a series of defeats, there were individual sparks of brilliance. Fast bowler Abhishek Kumar, with an impressive 13 wickets, secured a place among the top 60 bowlers in the country. Vice-captain and spinner Manish Sharma also contributed significantly with 11 wickets. These experienced campaigners will be pivotal to the team’s success in the upcoming one-day tournament.
To fine-tune their preparations, the Meghalaya U-23 squad underwent a rigorous training camp in Jagiroad, Assam, commencing on December 2. The team boasts a blend of seasoned players and exciting young talents, with wicketkeeping duties entrusted to the capable hands of Sachin Kumar and Thunun Marak.
As the one-day competition unfolds, all eyes will be on Meghalaya and their captain, Kevin Sanjeev Christopher, as they strive to achieve success in this challenging format.
