Assam: A major fire broke out in Balijuri, Sootea, on Monday morning, leaving nine commercial establishments in ruins.
The blaze, which erupted suddenly, quickly engulfed a jewelry shop, a hotel, a bicycle store, and several other businesses.
The situation escalated dramatically when gas cylinders stored within the hotel exploded, fanning the flames and hindering firefighting efforts.
Local residents believe an electrical short circuit may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
Fire services responded to the emergency, albeit with some delay, and successfully brought the inferno under control, preventing further damage to surrounding structures.
Authorities are currently assessing the extent of the destruction and conducting a thorough investigation to determine the precise cause of the devastating fire. Property losses are estimated to be in the lakhs of rupees.
