Santirbazar: Tripura Police have arrested five youths on charges of gang-raping a minor girl in Santirbazar under South District. The incident came to light on Saturday after the victim’s family filed a written complaint with the police.
According to Santirbazar police station OC Ashutosh Sharma, one of the accused youths allegedly kidnapped the minor girl from her house and took her to a rubber plantation where he and four other youths gang-raped her. The traumatized girl returned home the next morning and disclosed the horrific incident to her mother.
Based on the mother’s complaint, police arrested the five accused: Shaktiya Reang (18), Nibhas Tripura (19), Subhash Reang (19), Lakshmidhan Tripura (18), and Jiban Tripura (21).
Following legal procedures, all five accused were produced before the Belonia District and Sessions Court.
