Kamrup Gears Up for Panchayat Elections: Meeting Held to Ensure Accurate Electoral Roll
Guwahati, Assam: In preparation for the upcoming Panchayat Elections, the Kamrup district administration held a crucial meeting today at the Integrated District Commissioner’s Office.
The session, chaired by Susanta Kumar Dutta, District Development Commissioner of Kamrup, focused on ensuring a comprehensive and error-free Panchayat Electoral Roll.
Dutta emphasized the vital role of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and Gaon Panchayat Secretaries in this process. He laid out their responsibilities in guaranteeing all eligible voters find their place on the roll, while simultaneously eliminating duplicate entries. Following the recent delimitation exercise for Gaon Panchayat, Anchalik Panchayat, and Zilla Parishad constituencies, careful verification of polling station mapping was also stressed upon.
Discussions also addressed other key matters, including the proper handling of claims and objections submitted by citizens, along with thorough verification of polling stations. The meeting included Dr. Bhupali Kashyap, Election Officer, Kamrup, alongside other EROs, AEROs, and Gaon Panchayat Secretaries.
Important Dates for Voters:
- Draft Electoral Roll Published: December 11, 2024 (available for public inspection)
- Deadline for Claims & Objections: December 21, 2024
- Disposal of Claims & Objections: December 22 – 26, 2024
- Publication of Final Electoral Roll: December 28, 2024
Submitting Claims & Objections:
Citizens can submit claims and objections using specific forms:
- Form (A): For inclusion of names in the electoral roll
- Form (B): For deletion of names or objection to inclusion
- Form (C): For correction of information
