Assam: Grieving Family Accuses Tularam Bafna Hospital of Negligence, Demands Justice
Assam: Tensions ran high at Tularam Bafna Kamrup District Civil Hospital on Monday as a grieving family staged a protest, accusing hospital staff of negligence that led to the death of their newborn child.
The incident unfolded on Friday, December 13, when Dolly Kakoti, a resident of Muktapur Bharali Supa, was admitted to the hospital under the care of gynecologist Dr. Nikunja Deka. She delivered a baby boy on Saturday, but the infant’s critical health condition necessitated a referral to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries.
The distraught family has leveled serious allegations of negligence against Dr. Nikunja Deka and Dr. Pallav Lochan Sharma, blaming them for the tragic loss of their child. The situation further deteriorated as heated arguments erupted between the family members and hospital staff.
To quell the growing unrest, police personnel from North Guwahati’s Gauripur outpost were deployed to the hospital to maintain law and order. As of now, there has been no official statement from the authorities regarding the allegations.
