Unexploded Bomb Found Near Manipur CM’s Residence near Koirengei
Imphal: A chilling discovery was made on Tuesday morning when an unexploded 51 mm mortar bomb was found near Koirengei, just a kilometer away from Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s private residence in Luwangshangbam.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the state and raised serious security concerns. Locals revealed that a rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the site the previous night, but fortunately, it failed to detonate. The subsequent discovery of the unexploded bomb has instilled fear among residents.
Manipur Police have initiated a thorough investigation to uncover the origins of the bomb and the motive behind the attack. In response to the heightened threat, security measures around the Chief Minister’s residence have been significantly reinforced.
In another alarming incident, a hand grenade was discovered near the residence of a Public Works Department (PWD) special contractor in Imphal East on Sunday. This further underscores the volatile security situation in the state.
On Saturday, Manipur Police made significant strides in combating militant activities by arresting six cadres of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and neutralizing one member in a separate operation in Thoubal district.
