Phurba Tamang Secures Silver at Tata Steel Kolkata Marathon, Makes Sikkim Proud
Sikkim: Phurba Tamang, popularly known as the “Marathon Girl of Sikkim,” has added another feather to her cap by clinching the silver medal in the 25K Tata Steel Kolkata Marathon.
Competing in the 25-29 years age category, Phurba completed the race in an impressive time of 1 hour, 52 minutes, and 27 seconds.
She finished second, closely behind Puja Mondol from West Bengal, who claimed the gold. Bandasharai Marwein of Meghalaya secured third place in the same category.
Phurba, currently serving under the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim, attributed her success to her rigorous training and the guidance of her coach, Basant Pradhan. Her achievement highlights her commitment to excellence and is yet another proud moment for Sikkim on the national sports stage.
