Assam Police Seize Heroin Worth ₹35 Lakh, Arrest Two
Assam: The Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) police in Erode intercepted two individuals and seized heroin worth ₹35 lakh on Wednesday in a swift operation near the Erode Railway Junction.
Acting on a tip-off, the PEW police conducted a raid at the two-wheeler parking lot of the railway station.
During the operation, officers spotted two men carrying a suspicious bag. Upon inspection, 50 grams of heroin, valued at ₹35 lakh, was discovered concealed inside the bag.
The suspects, aged 29 and 30, were identified as natives of Assam. Upon questioning, the duo admitted to smuggling the contraband from Assam with the intention of selling it at a higher profit in Erode. The police promptly registered a case and arrested the individuals.
This seizure follows a similar operation conducted on Tuesday evening, during which the PEW police confiscated three kilograms of ganja near the Erode Railway Station and arrested a man from Odisha.
The recent back-to-back busts highlight the efforts of the PEW police in curbing drug trafficking in the region. Authorities have intensified vigilance and urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to aid in their ongoing crackdown on illegal narcotics.
