PREPAK Denies Involvement in Thoubal Incident, Accuses Manipur Police of False Claims

Imphal: The proscribed group, People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), has vehemently denied any involvement in the December 14 incident at Salungpham in Thoubal district.

In a strongly worded press release, the group refuted the claims made by Manipur Police that the deceased Laishram Prem (18) and six others arrested on the same day were members of PREPAK.

The group expressed deep concern over the statement made by DIG Range-II Jogeshchandra Haobijam, who had linked the incident to PREPAK. PREPAK characterized the claim as “fabricated and baseless,” aimed at misleading the public and diverting attention from the real issues at hand.

PREPAK clarified that Laishram Prem, a resident of Thoubal Khunou, was killed in a firing incident near Salungpham High School on the morning of December 14, allegedly by Manipur Police. The six individuals arrested at the scene were falsely labeled as PREPAK members.

The group asserted that all seven individuals, including the deceased, were village volunteers actively defending their state against the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing campaign perpetrated by Kuki narco-terrorists since May 3, 2023.

The group further criticized the Manipur Police for their failure to protect innocent civilians and safeguard properties during the crisis. PREPAK accused the police of deliberately targeting innocent villagers, attempting to shift blame and conceal their own shortcomings in addressing the escalating conflict.
