Aizwal: Two Myanmar nationals, Vansuieni alias Suinunfeli (36) and Lalchhanmawii (44), escaped from a jail in Mizoram’s Champhai district on Thursday.
The duo exploited a weak point in the jail’s infrastructure, fleeing through a tin-sheet toilet.
Lalchhanmawii, a repeat offender, had previously escaped from the Women’s Central Jail in Aizawl last year. She was recaptured in May after being linked to a drug trafficking case.
A case has been registered, and authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend the escaped prisoners.
