Tripura Police Strengthen Security Ahead of NEC Plenary Session
Agartala: Tripura Police have intensified security measures across the state, deploying over 10,000 personnel ahead of the 72nd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC), scheduled to be held in Agartala on December 20 and 21.
The high-profile event will see the participation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, and other dignitaries, including chief ministers, chief secretaries, and governors of northeastern states.
Director General of Police (DGP) Amitabh Ranjan, along with senior officials, conducted a thorough inspection of the venues on Thursday and reviewed the extensive security arrangements.
Speaking to reporters, DGP Ranjan assured the public of a robust security setup, stating, “Comprehensive security arrangements have been made, from the India-Bangladesh border to urban areas. This includes naka patrolling, preventive actions, and heightened security at all venues hosting programs and accommodations for dignitaries.”
Agartala city alone will see the deployment of over 5,000 personnel, with additional forces drawn from the BSF, CRPF, Assam Rifles, and TSR. Security has also been tightened at all border outposts and police stations to ensure vigilance and preparedness.
To further secure the proceedings, a trial run of the arrangements is being conducted, ensuring a seamless and incident-free session. These measures underscore Tripura’s commitment to the successful execution of the NEC Plenary Session, which is expected to bring together key stakeholders from the region for discussions on development and collaboration.
