Sikkim CM Hosts Farewell for Outgoing Army Commander, Welcomes Successor
Sikkim: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang hosted a meeting at his official residence on December 23 to bid farewell to Major General Amit Kabhtiyal, the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 17 Mountain Division, and to welcome his successor, Major General MS Rathore.
During the meeting, CM Tamang expressed deep gratitude for Major General Kabhtiyal’s dedicated service and leadership. Reflecting on their strong professional relationship, the Chief Minister said, “It was a pleasure to welcome Major General Kabhtiyal and extend my heartfelt best wishes for his future endeavors. His service to the nation has been commendable, and we are grateful for his leadership.”
The occasion also served to introduce Major General MS Rathore as the newly appointed GOC of the 17 Mountain Division. CM Tamang conveyed his best wishes to Rathore, emphasizing the significance of maintaining the robust partnership between the military and the people of Sikkim.
“I wish Major General Rathore all the best for his tenure ahead. His leadership will be vital in continuing the positive relationship between the army and the people of Sikkim,” Tamang remarked.
The meeting underscored Sikkim’s close ties with the armed forces, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering cooperation and mutual respect in the region.
