Manipur Man Arrested at IGI Airport for Smuggling Gold Concealed in Rectum
Imphal: Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi arrested a 24-year-old man from Manipur on Friday for attempting to smuggle gold into the country. The man, who had arrived from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was intercepted during a routine check.
Upon inspection, customs officers discovered three oval-shaped capsules containing a yellow chemical paste, suspected to be gold, concealed within the man’s rectum. After extraction, these capsules yielded a 951-gram gold bar. In addition, two gold biscuits weighing 23 grams were found in his baggage.
The total weight of the seized gold amounted to 974 grams, with an estimated value of Rs 72.07 lakh. The passenger was subsequently arrested and faces charges for gold smuggling.
