Two Arrested in Tripura for Alleged Human Trafficking Activities

Agartala: In a significant breakthrough, the Tripura police, in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP), apprehended two individuals for their alleged involvement in human trafficking.

The joint operation was conducted in the Mati Nagar area of Sonamura, marking a decisive step in curbing illegal activities in the region.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Shahid Mia (33) and Faichal Mia (19), who were wanted in connection with an ongoing human trafficking case.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the GRP confirmed that both had been evading multiple search operations conducted at their residences before being finally apprehended.

Authorities have intensified investigations in the area, suspecting the involvement of a broader network of human traffickers. Further arrests are anticipated as operations continue to dismantle the trafficking nexus.

This arrest follows a related incident earlier, where three Bangladeshi nationals were detained at the Agartala Railway Station for illegally entering India. These developments underscore the commitment of law enforcement agencies to counter cross-border crimes and ensure the safety and security of the region’s residents.
