Congress Hosts ‘Ambedkar Samman Yatra’ in Guwahati to Honor Dr. B.R. Ambedkar
Guwahati: The Kamrup Metropolitan District Congress Committee organized the ‘Ambedkar Samman Yatra’ in Guwahati, with Gaurav Gogoi, the Deputy Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, leading the procession. The event began at 11:30 AM from the Manabendra Sarma Complex and concluded with a tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the revered architect of the Indian Constitution.
The procession, which saw a large turnout of Congress supporters, was part of the party’s efforts to honor Ambedkar’s monumental contributions to the nation. The administration had granted permission for tributes and garlanding, but protests were not allowed during the event. Despite this, Congress leaders remained firm in their dedication to commemorating Ambedkar’s legacy.
Following the tribute, a series of speeches were delivered by prominent Congress leaders, including Debabrata Saikia, Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), Manoj Chouhan, Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), and Ripun Bora, former Member of Parliament. The speeches focused on Ambedkar’s life, his fight for social justice, and his enduring influence on Indian society.
The event highlighted the Congress party’s commitment to honoring Dr. Ambedkar and educating the public on his significant role in shaping modern India.
