Assam: Excise Department Cracks Down on Illicit Liquor in Rangapara
Assam: In a bid to curb the production and sale of illicit liquor, the Excise Department conducted a high-intensity operation across Rangapara. The crackdown resulted in the dismantling of 10 illegal liquor brewing units and the confiscation of related materials.
The operation, led by Excise Inspector Madhurya Talukdar and Sub-Inspector Jayanta Choudhury, began in Amaribari’s Bherbhori village, targeting several illegal brewing facilities. It later extended to Rangapara Railway Hospital vicinity and Phulbari’s Upper Kachari village.
This effort addressed a long-standing issue that has been blamed for deteriorating the region’s social and educational atmosphere. Despite previous actions, illicit brewing activities have persisted, raising concerns over their negative influence, particularly on the youth.
