Fresh Firing in Manipur Leaves Journalist Injured, Tensions Rise in Kangpokpi District

Imphal: A fresh outbreak of violence rocked Manipur on the morning of December 28, as suspected militants launched an attack from the hilltops of Kangpokpi district, targeting the peripheral areas of the state.

The incident, which occurred in Thamnapokpi under Imphal East district, left a video journalist injured, further heightening tensions in the conflict-hit region.

The injured journalist, identified as Leimapokpam Kabichandra of Impact TV, sustained a bullet wound to his thigh during the assault.

He was immediately rushed to Raj Medicity for medical treatment. His condition is currently stable, according to medical sources.

The attackers, believed to be Kuki militants, reportedly launched their offensive from elevated positions in Kangpokpi, taking advantage of the terrain to target the area.

Security forces responded swiftly, intensifying operations in the region to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of civilians.

This latest attack underscores the ongoing volatility in Manipur, where tensions between different communities have repeatedly flared into violence.

Authorities remain on high alert, with efforts underway to restore peace and bring the situation under control.
