Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh Cremated with Full State Honours
National: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was cremated with full state honours at Nigambodh Ghat in Kashmere Gate, Delhi. The ceremony, held with solemn respect, was attended by his family, close associates, political colleagues, and top government dignitaries.
Prominent leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, paid their tributes earlier in the day by laying wreaths near Dr. Singh’s mortal remains.
The cremation was conducted in accordance with Sikh traditions at the VIP Ghat, where Dr. Singh’s mortal remains were placed on a sandalwood pyre as part of the ceremonial rites. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, were present to bid their final farewells to the former Prime Minister.
Earlier in the morning, Dr. Singh’s mortal remains were brought to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters from his residence, where party workers and admirers gathered to pay their respects. The public also gathered outside his residence, reflecting on his enduring legacy as a leader who played a pivotal role in shaping India’s economic reforms and providing steady leadership.
