Youth Rescued from Brahmaputra River by Brave Civil Defence Volunteers in Assam

Assam: A young man from S. Khaklari village in Kaliabor, Nagaon district, was rescued after slipping into the Brahmaputra River on December 30 while enjoying a picnic at Rudrapada, Assam.

The mishap occurred when the youth, part of a group on a day outing, lost his footing and fell into the river.

Thankfully, Suheil Ahmed and Abhijit Sharma, volunteers from the Sonitpur Civil Defence team, were on duty at the site, along with Assam Police.

Demonstrating remarkable bravery and quick thinking, the duo immediately jumped into the river and managed to pull the youth to safety.

The rescued individual was later handed over to his guardians by the Tezpur River Police. Sonitpur Police have praised the Civil Defence volunteers for their timely and courageous actions, acknowledging their heroic efforts in preventing a potential tragedy.
