NCC Cadets in Arunachal Pradesh Achieve Historic Milestone with First-Ever Live Firing Practice
Itanagar: In a landmark event for the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Arunachal Pradesh, cadets from Government Higher Secondary School (GHHS) Hayuliang and Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Hawaii participated in live firing practice at the Hayuliang Firing Range. This marks the first such training exercise since the NCC’s establishment in the region in 1986.
Organized under the guidance of the 26 NCC Battalion, Digboi, the event was led by Subedar Major Rupendra Chhetri and overseen by Colonel Vijay Lamba. The exercise aimed to instill confidence and precision in the cadets by familiarizing them with the safe handling and operation of firearms.
The firing practice followed strict protocols, ensuring safety at every stage. Cadets were brought within 100 yards of the firing point, where they received detailed instructions on practice techniques, target allocation, and safety measures.
This milestone has revitalized the NCC’s presence in the region, offering cadets an opportunity to enhance their discipline, leadership, and marksmanship skills. It also underscores the commitment of both cadets and mentors to fostering a culture of excellence and readiness among Arunachal Pradesh’s youth.
Firing exercises have been a core component of NCC training across India, contributing to the holistic development of cadets. Advanced facilities, such as the underground shooting range in Rohini, New Delhi, which features a 25-meter range and electronic target control systems, have set benchmarks for such initiatives.
The successful live firing practice at Hayuliang reflects the dedication of the 26 NCC Battalion and the enthusiasm of participating cadets. It paves the way for future training initiatives, reinforcing the NCC’s mission to empower youth through skill development and national service.
