Meghalaya’s Irene Dkhar Represents India at Miss Tourism World 2025 in China
Shillong: Irene Dkhar, the reigning Miss Tourism India, is set to showcase India’s cultural richness on the global stage at the Miss Tourism World 2025 Global Finals.
The event will take place on January 10 in Guangdong, China, with over 60 contestants from nations including the United States, France, Brazil, and Venezuela, as well as participants from Belt and Road Initiative and Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries.
Dkhar departed from New Delhi on December 27 to join her fellow contestants in what is hailed as one of the most influential events in global tourism and cultural industries.
Backed by the Chinese government, the contest underscores its role in fostering cultural exchange and strengthening international ties.
At a press conference held in Guangzhou on January 3, diplomats such as Ahmed Mustafa Fahmi of the Arab League, Sinisha Belyan from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ivan Chiulu from Zambia highlighted the significance of the event in promoting cultural unity.
Dkhar’s journey to the international platform has been remarkable. She has previously held several prestigious titles, including Miss Meghalaya 2022, Miss Northeast 2022, Femina Miss India Meghalaya 2023, and Miss Grand India Meghalaya 2024. Her crowning as Miss Tourism India 2024 in Jaipur solidified her position as a prominent ambassador of India’s cultural and tourism potential.
