15th Chandubi Festival Concludes, Showcasing Assam’s Rich Heritage and Natural Beauty
Assam: The 15th edition of the Chandubi Festival, a five-day cultural extravaganza in Assam’s Kamrup district, comes to a close today, January 5.
Held annually to honor the serene Chandubi Lake, the festival attracts thousands of tourists and highlights the rich biodiversity, culture, and traditions of the region.
This year’s celebration, organized under the leadership of Bichitra Rabha, commenced on January 1 with a ceremonial flag hoisting. The event was inaugurated by Tankeshwar Rabha, Chief Executive Member of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, and BJP leader Himanshu Shekhar Baishya.
Adding literary significance to the festivities, the Nikhil Rabha Students’ Union’s general secretary launched a new book titled Lakeya.
Taking to social media, the Chief Minister’s Office lauded the festival’s significance in blending nature, culture, and tradition. “Where nature, culture and tradition unite in harmony – The Chandubi Festival. It’s more than a festival; it’s a tribute to the traditions, heritage and spirit of the Assamese tribes, showcasing the timeless bond between humanity and nature,” read the official statement.
The Chandubi Festival has become a vital platform for celebrating Assam’s diverse tribal heritage while raising awareness about the environment and biodiversity. Its cultural performances, traditional crafts, and natural attractions have once again reinforced Chandubi Lake’s role as a symbol of unity between humanity and nature.
