BSF Foils Smuggling Attempts Along Indo-Bangladesh Border in Tripura

Agartala: Alert personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura successfully thwarted multiple smuggling attempts along the Indo-Bangladesh border, recovering contraband worth ₹2,64,503, including cattle, Phensedyl syrup, sugar, and other items, officials confirmed on Thursday.

In a significant operation on New Year’s Day, BSF troops seized smuggled goods valued at ₹68,75,000, marking one of the largest confiscations in the region this year. The operation took place near the *Border Outpost Srinagar in the Udaipur sector, where BSF teams, working in coordination with local police and customs officials, intercepted a massive consignment of illegal clothing and cigarettes.

In separate incidents along the border, BSF personnel confiscated marijuana, cough syrup, and other contraband items valued at ₹1,22,600, further curbing illicit activities in the region.

All seized items have been handed over to the respective authorities for further investigation. While no arrests have been made yet, officials assured that efforts to track and apprehend those involved in the smuggling operations are ongoing.

The BSF continues to maintain a high level of vigilance along the Tripura stretch of the Indo-Bangladesh border, intensifying operations to prevent illegal cross-border activities and safeguard the region.
