Tripura Publishes Final Electoral Rolls with Over 30,000 New Young Voters
AGARTALA — The final electoral rolls for Tripura, published today by the State Election Commission, reveal a significant increase in voter registration, particularly among young electors aged 18-19. A total of 30,399 new voters in this age group have been added, with 14,766 males, 15,632 females, and one registered as third gender.
The updated rolls, finalized after a claims and objections period following the draft publication on October 29, 2024, reflect data as of January 1, 2025. Tripura now has 28,91,082 registered voters, including 14,50,709 males, 14,40,229 females, and 74 third-gender electors. This marks a net increase of 26,607 voters compared to the draft rolls.
Authorities reported that the total additions amounted to 51,303, while deletions were recorded at 24,696. Among the removals, 12,430 deceased voters were struck from the rolls. The revision also involved 104,983 corrections, encompassing Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) replacements and marking of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
The state’s electoral participation ratio (EP ratio) rose to 681 in the final rolls from 675 in the draft. Additionally, the gender ratio saw a slight improvement, climbing to 993 females per 1,000 males, compared to 991 in the draft rolls. Female voter registrations surpassed those of males by 2,166, signaling a notable trend in gender balance.
The Election Commission emphasized the meticulous process of revisions, carried out by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) across all 60 Assembly Constituencies in the state. With the updated rolls now finalized, the focus shifts toward ensuring smooth preparations for upcoming electoral events in Tripura.
