Security Forces Recover Large Cache of Arms in Manipur Operations

Imphal: Security forces in Manipur seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition during intensified search and area domination exercises across the fringe and vulnerable areas of the state’s hill and valley districts. The operations, conducted on January 13, aimed to bolster security in regions prone to unrest.

One major operation was carried out at Phayeng Ridge, located between Freedom Hill and Phayeng village in Kangpokpi district under New Keithelmanbi Police Station. The search led to the recovery of two bolt action rifles, three 9mm pistols, one 0.32 pistol, one additional pistol, three No. 36 hand grenades, four electric detonators, three detonators for No. 36 grenades, and various live rounds, including two .380mm rounds, four 0.22mm rounds, and four 9mm rounds. Additional seized items included two tear smoke shells (SR), one gas gun shell, one tear smoke (LR), and a Baofeng radio set.

In a separate operation conducted near the Zero Point-P1 Railway Tunnel Road, approximately 6 km north of COB Kotlen, also under New Keithelmanbi Police Station in Kangpokpi district, security personnel recovered one 9mm CMG with two magazines, two country-made single-barrel rifles, one No. 36 hand grenade, and another Baofeng communication device.

These recoveries underscore the relentless efforts of the security forces in curbing the proliferation of illegal arms and ensuring the safety of the region. Authorities continue to carry out targeted operations to dismantle networks posing a threat to peace and security in Manipur.
