Arunachal: Banderdewa Police arrest Drug Peddler in High-Speed Chase
Itanagar: In a swift and well-coordinated operation, Banderdewa Police arrested a suspected drug peddler following a dramatic high-speed chase on Wednesday. The operation was led by Inspector Kipa Hamak, Officer-in-Charge of Banderdewa Police Station, with a special team comprising Sub-Inspector Koj Tada and Constables T. Bomdom and R. Tsering. The mission was conducted under the supervision of Shri Rishi Longdo, SDPO Naharlagun.
The suspect, who attempted to evade police intervention, sped off on a Bajaj Avenger motorcycle with registration number AR01H7457. However, the police team managed to intercept him after a pursuit that ended in Jullang.
Upon a thorough search of the suspect, the team recovered 10 vials of suspected heroin, weighing approximately 12.70 grams and valued at ₹30,000. A case has since been registered under Banderdewa PS C/No. 04/2025 U/S 21(b) of the NDPS Act.
The accused has been identified as 27-year-old Nur Jamal, son of Nur Ali, a resident of Alisingia, Uriyumguri, under Bourghat Police Station in Sonitpur, Assam. He is now in police custody and will face legal proceedings.
Superintendent of Police, Naharlagun, Shri Mihin Gambo, IPS, lauded the team’s efforts and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to eradicating drug-related activities under “Operation Dawn 2.0.” He emphasized the police force’s ongoing dedication to combating the drug menace in the region and ensuring a safer community.
