Meghalaya Cabinet Approves Key Schemes for State’s Development
Shillong: The Meghalaya Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, has approved several schemes aimed at advancing the state’s development and progress.
A key approval was granted for the implementation of the Meghalaya Town & Country Planning Scheme, which aims to bring all stakeholders together to plan, approve, and discuss town and countryside planning.
The scheme is particularly significant for the New Shillong Township, which spans an area of 290 sq. km and is poised for development at various levels. According to the CM’s office, the planning for the town and countryside has been hindered by a lack of coordination among stakeholders, leading to unplanned growth.
In another important decision, the Cabinet approved the framing of the ‘State Rules to Regulate the Payment of Analysis Fee for Examination’ of various cases, exhibits, and articles in the Directorate of Forensic Sciences under the Home (Police) Department. This move aims to establish a system for classifying and charging fees for services provided by the Directorate, which receives cases from national agencies, governments, private entities, and other states. The new rules will introduce a set fee structure for different agencies.
