Rikman G Momin Reelected as Meghalaya BJP Chief Ahead of Key Elections
Shillong: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Meghalaya unit has unanimously reelected Rikman G Momin as state president, reinforcing its leadership strategy ahead of the upcoming Autonomous District Council elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Party officials lauded Momin’s organizational reforms during his previous term, which bolstered internal cohesion and strengthened team dynamics. “By imposing faith in Rikman G Momin yet again, the party has signaled its confidence in achieving significant success under his capable stewardship,” read an official BJP statement. The statement highlighted an increase in party membership and defections from rival parties as evidence of the BJP’s growing influence in Meghalaya.
Momin’s first term was marked by a focus on restructuring the party’s organization, fostering teamwork, and boosting morale among party workers. His efforts to attract political leaders from other parties were particularly noted, with the state unit crediting him for positioning the BJP as a formidable force in the northeastern state.
The BJP also underscored its role in implementing central government schemes in Meghalaya, suggesting that Momin’s leadership would continue to bridge state and federal initiatives effectively.
In addition to Momin’s reelection, senior leaders AL Hek, MTDC Chairman Sanbor Shullai, and former state BJP president Ernest Mawrie were named national council members, further consolidating the party’s leadership team in the state.
